| 24 September 1887 There was a report of the crime in the Birmingham Daily Post Saturday 24 September 1887 p.5 col.7: BILSTON. - ATTEMPTED PUBLIC HOUSE ROBBERY. - Yesterday, at the Police Court, Louis Brooks (12), Dartmouth Street, Wolverhampton, and Edward Green (12), James Street, Wolverhampton, were charged with attempting to rob the till of Mary E. Joyce, landlady of the Wheat Sheaf Inn, Oxford Street, Bilston. - On the 21st inst, the boys entered the house on some petty pretence, and were found attempting to rob the till drawer. - Inspector Harrison gave the lads a bad character. - The Bench said that the prisoners had been convicted several times. They would now be sentenced to a month's imprisonment, and four years' reformatory training. | |
