Circumstances of Death
| The pages of the online War diary are very blurred and difficult to read but we can see that on 24 Aug 1916, when William is listed as being killed, the 23rd Bn were in the line at Pozieres and came under numerous artillery barrages during the day and we assume that he was killed during one of these barrages.
